Storm Chase KC pursues a majestic Supercell storm system in Northwest Missouri near Maryville and Grant City, Missouri. I have to say that this storm had some impressive structure and showed tight rotation. You can even see that rotation in the video.
You gotta appreciate the complexity, beauty and power that storms possess. Though a tornado didn't touch down during this chase, the visuals captured are definitely awe inspiring.

On Friday, 04/17/2026, Storm Chase KC was tracking a storm developing over the Kansas City, Missouri Metro. At approximately 5:25 p.m., the residents of Belton, Missouri, found themselves in the face of a tornado warning that rocked a small neighborhood in the area of South Mullen Road and 173rd Street. Unfortunately, this neighborhood came face to face with a confirmed tornado on the ground, which caused damage to property and structural damage to homes. Thankfully, there are no reports of injuries sustained by the residents.
When we spoke to some of the residents, they expressed how thankful they were that the damage wasn't worse. The confirmed tornado that stuck was on the ground briefly before dissipating. With the exception of a few houses and trees near this little community, the severe damage path remained contained. Residents in the surrounding area were left without power as utility crews worked tirelessly to restore power at a nearby substation.
It is all hands on deck as they try to reclaim some sort of normalcy after this trying event. Multiple roofing crews, firefighters, police officers, and neighbors joined in to help clear debris and check on all of the residents that were in the path of this tornado. Our hearts and prayers remain with them as they forge ahead in the cleanup effort.
As of Saturday 4/18/26 at 12:00 p.m. this tornado has been classified as an EF-1 with wind speeds of 110 mph, was 100 yards wide, and tracked a total distance of 2 miles.
Check out this timelapse footage captured in full 4K by the chase vehicle dash camera of our chase from Dearborn, Missouri to Tracy, Missouri. This Supercell shows amazing structure and power as we approach. The definition captured is awe inspiring to say the least.
This cell later spawns a confirmed tornado on the ground in Liberty, Missouri; and throws us into a dangerous situation.
